Tan Boon

Tan Boon, a name well received in the local and international musical industry, is a passionate artist who engineers creativity into any music and events that he is involved with.

Boon, being a focused proponent and activist of excellent music arts events, has made significant contributions in promoting music talents, as well as introducing local musicians to A-list performers from around the world.


A driving force behind the first International Drum Festival in Asia, Singapore Drum Fest is curated by Boon and featured 45 international Drum artists over 7 years. 


His latest event, the DRUM-OFF Global , a world wide drum solo competition for 197 nations of the world, is proof and testament of his sheer will to empower drummers from all around the world to rise up in musical and creative excellence.


Boon is the founder of Urban Drum Crew, a creative experimental percussion group that has performed in 15 countries and in over 1500 concerts and events. His work in unique percussion performances have been presented before the late President, Mr SR Nathan, President, Mr Tony Tan and both Prime Ministers, Mr Goh and Mr Lee and many foreign dignitaries and Singapore Cabinet Ministers.


Boon is also the managing director of 16 Beat Drums , a drum retail shop since 2018 distributing unique products like Black Hole and Hybrid drums to help drummers practice and perform with no compromise on feel. The concept of the shop is based on providing solutions to ancient problems faced by drummers all over the world.


Last but certainly not least, Boon have played and recorded drums and percussion for 6 christian albums from Singapore and Australia. He is also the creator of the Strikeforce - a Christian praise and worship group with drumming as an anchor catalyst, the biggest Christ-centred percussion group to date with 200 drummers between 2004 till 2009.
